Preparation
Marinating the Tempeh
Combine Tempeh and Oil
In a large bowl, add tempeh cubes with 2 tbsp vegetable oil.
Refrigerate
Cover, refrigerate, and let marinate for at least 30 minutes.
Overnight (Optional)
For best results, marinate overnight.
Preparing the Sweet Soy Sauce Glaze
Combine Ingredients
In a small saucepan, combine kecap manis, red chili, shallot, and garlic.
Adjust the chili amount based on your spice preference.
Cook Gently
Cook over low heat until the shallots are soft, about 5 minutes.
Make sure not to burn the sauce; keep stirring.
Set Aside
